Balancing the load | Being a present parent is a choice. Setting Intentions for your Family + Free Summer Downloads

If  you watch the vlog then you would I have quite a few hats that I juggle on a daily basis. I am a mother to children in every stage of childhood, a wife, business owner and a service member. I take pride in serving my family as diligently as I do the military.

I wish I could tell you that I have achieved perfect balance but I simply have not. The real answer is that there is no true balance and you have to become comfortable with that fact. Now I'm not saying completely disregard an area of your life. Theres subtle shifts that happen but reentering yourself when you teeter too far is a must.

There’s one day that is super focused on the ten year old. I pick him up from school so that he can make his one on one coaching session on time. Typically this session is followed by a baseball game that we zoom to. He changes in the car, we grab a bite to eat and we are in our way to the ballgame ( baseball pun). In general conversation with his coach it came out that I had not only worked since 4am but had done all the things mentioned above weekly and without complaint. His response wow... My response, being a present parent is a choice.

I could easily let someone else do all these things and sometimes I do. I elicit the help of my husband and partner in parenting. Or we will have the teenager take his brother to the baseball game. But as important as it is for me to create content and engage with other mothers it is important for me to be an active parent even when it's difficult. To be honest I am exhausted the majority of the time. I work a demanding job, pour hours into content creation and try to do all the household " mom " things but I choose to be a present parent.

So let’s talk about it.... How and why do I balance....

Let’s begin with why.

My memories of growing up aren’t those of my parents cheering at sports events. Other things had priority and as an adult I understand. As a child I did not. I don’t want to wait for my children to become adults and come to terms with my shortcomings as a parent before I deal with them. I understand because I am now a parent and see how easy it is to get caught up in what else is on my to do list forcing the children lower and lower on the list. I used to do this myself but I hadn’t found my footing completely in life yet. Now I know

What you water will blossom and that includes your children.

My why may not be the same as yours. You may simply just want to be a better mom. I have a little baggage and that’s ok too. Now that you know my why let’s talk HOW..

Setting intentions for my family is the main way that I find a sense of work life balance. I know that I want to be a present mother, loving wife and not lose focus on my personal endeavors. I set aside time to plan out the important events and try to multitask as much as possible. Theres times when I need to give an event or person my sole attention but the majority of the time I can do a few things at a time.

Something new I am trying this year is setting intentions for summer vacations. Each year summer comes and each year we have no plan. Without a plan summer becomes days of nonstop television and video games. The 2020-2021 school year left a lot to be desired. This summer will be different and I plan to put the work in to do so. If you also want to help your children find adventure, fun and learning check out the summer planning guide . Check out these free downloads as well. Our first theme is WHEN I GROW UP. We will be using the When I grow up Vision Board and the Summer Bucket List .

Multitasking is another way that I am able to balance the different areas of my life. Multi tasking for me looks like doing my makeup while listening to an audiobook. Writing out a blog post while the toddler eats her breakfast and watches educational YouTube videos. I will share photos of baseball practice and games with my audience, I'm mommin and influencing. I'm balancing.
